Summer Over 40: Finding Confidence Again This Season

Happy Summer Fab Friends over 40! With Memorial Day weekend upon us, the official start of summer is finally here, and that means sunshine, barbecues and yes dare I say it - swimsuit season!

As a woman over 40, there is nothing scarier than trying on your jean shorts and swim suits from last summer! 

But don’t worry, because this year my followers at Find Yourself After 40 and I aren’t focusing on perfection. We are focusing on progress, confidence and feeling strong and healthy in our own skin!  So if you aren’t quite feeling that yet, I have your back! 


This post is kicking of my “Find Yourself After 40” Summer Series, where we are going to talk about all things to make us look - and feel - our absolute best this summer!

From wellness and nutrition to summer beauty and fashion specifically for women over 40, I am going to cover it all for you with the FYA40 Summer Series!

And let’s be honest ladies… summer after 40 hits a little differently than it did in our 20s.

Maybe you’ve gained a little weight.
Maybe your hormones are all over the place.
Maybe your skin, energy, confidence or body just feels… different.

Trust me, I get it.

For those of you already following me, you know that this January, I made a commitment to myself to stop waiting to “feel like myself again” and start actively rebuilding my confidence from the inside out.

Not through crash diets.
Not through perfection.
And definitely not by trying to look 25 again.

Instead, I started focusing on:
✔ strength over skinny
✔ consistency over perfection
✔ wellness over punishment
✔ confidence over comparison

And slowly—but surely—I began feeling stronger, healthier and more like ME again.

Since January, I’ve reached my goal of losing 20 pounds, lowered my BMI, built muscle through strength training, and most importantly… started reconnecting with myself again after a season that honestly felt heavy emotionally and physically.

And if I’ve learned anything so far, it’s this:

 Confidence after 40 doesn’t come from having the “perfect” body.

It comes from:

  • taking care of yourself  (nutrition, exercise, hydration and sleep)

  • keeping promises to yourself (no alcohol during the week)

  • feeling strong (consistent strength training sessions)

  • and learning to appreciate the woman you are becoming in this season of life.
